Participating and supporting companies must adhere to the following guidelines on fee ownership forestlands and promote them on all forestlands.

Forest Management Guidelines:

Encourage prompt and proper reforestation.
Protect water quality through implementation of NYS Silvicultural BMPs.
Support wildlife habitat diversity within timber management program.
Improve the visual impact of harvesting.
Identify and manage special sites within context of timber management program.
Forest management program should consider and contribute to biodiversity.
Promote the efficient use of wood products.
When using forest chemicals to ensure forest health and productivity, companies must meet or exceed legal requirements.

Wood Supply Guidelines:

Participating and supporting companies must adhere to the following principles for wood supply:

Promote the training of loggers with the supply system.
Promote forester involvement with supply system harvesting activities. Such as: a. Planning before the harvest operations; b. Technical assistance during and after harvests
Clearly define and implement policies, programs, and plans to ensure that mill inventories and procurement practices do not compromise adherence to the sustainable forestry principles.
