New York Logger Training’s TLC Program...

New York’s forest products community is entering the new millennium with considerable momentum thanks in great part to programs such as New York Logger Training’s (NYLT) Trained Logger Certification (TLC) and New York’s Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

It is likely that the forest products Industry will continue to face increasing scrutiny from both the public as well as its customers.  Simply “telling our story” will not regain public support nor enhance the industries credibility.  However, complementing that story with credible data pointing towards sincere behavioral changes could serve to chip away the wall of public skepticism surrounding the industry. Three years of data collection and analysis through the New York Sustainable Forestry Survey indicate that both of these aforementioned programs are indeed promoting positive on-the-ground changes in behavior.
