Michael
W. Hanlon –
Cayuta, NY

Mr. Hanlon
is currently the Vice-President of Cotton-Hanlon, Inc. and has been employed
there since 1987.
After
graduating from Clarkson University in 1983, Mr. Hanlon pursued a career in
public accounting in Elmira, NY and became a partner in a regional CPA firm
there. In 2002, after 13 years of public accounting experience, he concentrated
his efforts on his family hardwood tree farm business that includes 33,000 acres
of timberland. Mr. Hanlon has financial, management, tax, and operational
experience in sawmilling and as a timberland owner.
In addition
to working for Cotton-Hanlon, Inc., Mr. Hanlon has served on the board of
directors for the Corning Community College Foundation, Arnot Ogden Medical
Center Foundation, Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce, and Schuyler County
Partnership for Economic Development.
In his
capacity as a member of the Board for the Empire State Forest Products
Association, Mr. Hanlon would like to continue to strengthen the image of the
forest products industry in Albany. He would like to concentrate his efforts on
forest tax law and forest landowner issues. He states, "I remember coming to my
first ESFPA meeting in 1988. The Association has grown tremendously since then
and continues to be a strong advocate for the industry."
Mr. Hanlon
lives in Horseheads, NY with his wife Laurie and sons Kyle and Neil.
