Board Member Profile

David W. King – Lowville, NY

A 1996 Graduate of Paul Smith’s College with an A.A.S. in Forest Technology, Dave is also licensed for real estate sales in New York and Pennsylvania.  He is responsible for all LandVest marketing and management operations in the Western Adirondacks/Tug Hill/Southern Tier regions of New York State.  His Lowville office currently is responsible for the management of over 70,000 acres.

Prior to joining LandVest, he was co-owner of Woodlands Management Group and previously worked for Champion International Corp.  Dave served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery from 1982-1985 receiving the Presidential Citation, Army Achievement and Good Conduct medals and was promoted to  E-5.  After leaving the Army, Dave worked in the financial field covering insurances and pensions.  Dave currently serves on the Board of Directors of New York Logger Training as the Western Adirondack Regional Chair.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the board of the ESFPA.  The organization has been a tremendous advocate for forest landowners and forest products producers and users for nearly a full century.  They continue to champion issues that are critical to New York State’s forest health as well as the economic base of a forest products industry that has been among the States most reliable employers.  I can only hope to equal the efforts made by my predecessors in that endeavor.”

As a new board member, I would like to see increased enrollment as a priority for 2005.  This can only enhance our position in Albany, which is a goal for all those in the forest products industry.  In addition, we need to cultivate our exposure to the point that we can become more visible to the general public.  Too often the public hears negative commentary on our industry.  With programs like New York Logger Training and various certification efforts, we have an awesome story to tell.  Let’s tell it.
