Craig Jochum – Apalachin, NY

I love New York! Yeah, it could use a little tweaking, but the bottom line is – it’s home. My wife, Kim, and I are raising our three sons, CJ age 15, Dustin 11, and Matt 9 in the same town we grew up in.

We both own small businesses; hers - Hillside Graphix and mine - Craig Jochum Logging. Kim sponsored a little league baseball team this year that I helped coach and I have been assistant scoutmaster for our local Boy Scout troop for many years. It’s a great feeling to give back to our community.

I graduated from SUNY Ag. Tech. at Morrisville with an Associates Degree in Forest Technology in 1982. Opportunities in my field were limited at the time, so I took a job at the local mill. Soon after, a logging job became available.

Now, 24 years later, logging with one log truck and a skidder, is still a passion. Presently, I am a Director on the NYLT Board and the Central NY Regional Director of Training. I am also on the New York Lumberman’s Insurance Trust Fund Executive Advisory Committee and have served two terms as a Director on the Northeastern Loggers Association, having chaired the Education and Awards Committee.

I have seen my share of sunrises, whether working, camping or hunting and look forward to meeting and working with the members and directors of ESFPA so that our children can enjoy them also.
