Connie Smith – Central Square, NY

Ms. Smith has been an active member of the Empire State Forest Products Association for over 15 years. Ms. Smith is currently General Manager at the Central Square location of Trathen Logging Company. She began her career in the sawmill industry as a bookkeeper and eventually became President and sole owner of Twin Mills Lumber Company, Inc. Three years ago she sold the business to Trathen Logging Company and has remained as General Manager of the Central Square location.

Along with forging her way in a predominantly male-oriented industry, Connie has also been heavily involved in trade, civic, and community-minded organizations. Current activities include being a board member and past Secretary-Treasurer of ESFPA, a member of the Board of Directors for The United Way of Oswego County, a member of the Board of Directors for Oswego County Workforce Development, a current member and past-President and past Assistant Governor for District 7150 of Rotary Club of Oneida Shores, and a member of the Board of Directors and Trustee of New York Lumbermen’s Insurance Trust Fund.

As a Board Member of the Empire State Forest Products Association, Ms. Smith would like to increase public awareness of the challenges faced by the forestry industry and encourage more political support for the industry at the state levels.

Ms. Smith resides in Central Square, NY near her son, Charles, and her granddaughter, Caylee Sue.
