Board Member ProfileBrian Arico – Pine Plains, NY
Graduated Dutchess Community College in 1985 - AAS in Natural Resource Conservation Graduated Paul Smiths College 1987 - AAS Forestry Went to work for Rossi Corporation Headquarters in Higganum, CT in 1988 as a Forest Technician. Moved on to become a Procurement Forester, Log Buyer and eventually to run the company’s New York Forestry operations. Began Mid-Hudson Hardwoods, Inc. in 1993. The Company’s main role was as a liason between foreign markets and domestic raw materials. The Company purchased logs road side or in sawmill yards and also purchased standing timber with three Foresters on staff. My job was to oversee all operations and foreign sales. In 1997, I expanded Mid Hudson Hardwoods, Inc. to include a log yard in Czelesnegorsk USSR (United Federation of Russian States). We purchased logs delivered into our yard there and exported them to customers in China, Japan, Korea, and Canada. I traveled back and forth and oversaw all operations. I now run Mid Hudson Forest Products, Inc. the forestry division of MHH. Our primary function is purchasing standing timber. Member of the Society of American Foresters Currently serving as treasurer of Southeast Chapter of New York State Timber Producers Association I Live in Pine Plains, NY in the winter and Lake Placid, NY in the summer where my family and I operate an “Adirondack Great Camp” as a lodge. Based on where I have operated over the course of the past 18 years, I have had extensive experience with timber harvesting ordinances. I feel I bring a unique perspective to ESFPA as a result of my experience and I look forward to furthering the efforts of the organization in that regard. I believe that education is the key, so I am naturally a big fan of the current program designed to educate teachers. |
